Message The following is my opinion only, and please check my profile...

....you aren't launching the car nearly hard enough. Drag racing is all about the launch, and your 60ft times clearly show that you are very slow out of the gate.

If you want to run relatively quick on street radials, try launching the car at about 3000 rpms, and be prepared to feather the throttle if the car begins to spin. If 3000 rpm doesn't create wheelspin, then try launching at a higher rpm. Do this over and over as you learn how the car reacts to launch rpm and throttle input. I will go ahead and tell you that this isn't an easy thing to do in a 300ZX. You must balance the launch rpm with available grip, and feathering the throttle, or what most call backpedaling, is the way to do that.

Whatever the case, expect non-optimum results on street radials. If you're willing to spend some money, and you aren't afraid to drive the car hard try this...

- go buy some drag tires, preferably mickey thompson sportsman pros or full slicks. Aim for about a 26" height, no bigger. If you don't like the idea of dedicated drag tires, I suggest some Nitto drag radials. although you will not get the results of drag tires.
- go to the strip and launch the car hard, by that I mean rev it up to about 4500 rpm and drop the clutch. Be prepared for a quick 1-2 shift! Again this will take practice.

I tried street radials long ago, and the best I could manage was a 12.80. My average ET was about 13.20. I slapped on some tires, launched it hard, and immediately ran 12.20's, and eventually ran 12.10's.

As long as the clutch holds, expect a lot better results.
